Mitigate Security Problems of IoT, Smart Home Devices

Smart home and internet of things (IoT) devices present risks that users don't fully understand. A National Institute for Standards and Technology report discusses vulnerabilities stemming from user ignorance. While 100% of respondents in the NIST study cited privacy concerns, their actions didn't correspond. Some disabled the devices, some upgraded passwords, but NIST says there is substantial confusion over effective security measures as well as who bears responsibility for protection against privacy breaches. The study, while brief, may help agents in conversations with all clients who use IoT. You may also find the "Deep Dive" produced by ACT's Security Future Issues Work Group very useful and more comprehensive in terms of lines of business.
